Dr Joseph Chen is a lecturer in the Department of Marketing at Macquarie Business School in Sydney, Australia. He holds bachelor and master’s degrees in psychology and a doctoral degree in marketing.

Joseph's research focuses on brand scandals, product-harm crises, and data breaches. His research appears in reputable journals that are ranked A* in the ABDC list and included in the Financial Times' Top 50 Journals, including Journal of Business Ethics, Industrial Marketing Management, International Journal of Hospitality Management, Journal of International Marketing, and International Marketing Review.

He is keen to disseminate knowledge about real-world industry problems and hopes to shape industry practices to benefit the broader society. His research ideas have been reported by The Conversation, Yahoo News, BBC Radio 4, National Interest (USA), Raidió Teilifís Éireann (Ireland), and Sputnik (UK).

Research interests: consumer behaviour, product-harm crisis, ethical judgment, and social media.
