Research Chair, Indigenous Approaches to Environmental Management, Keele University

I am currently the course director for the MSc in Environmental Sustainability and Green Technology. I am a material scientist with an interest in life-cycle of materials and energy use. I have also developed research in distributed power generation using renewable energy.

My research area is in energy use, green technologies, plastic pollution, high temperature materials chemistry, particularly erosion and gas, liquid and solid interfaces. In particular, I have researched the corrosion of refractory materials for the regenerators of glass furnaces. I also have an interest in barriers to commercialisation of technology and entrepreneurship and have carried out a study into the barriers to female entrepreneurship in the West Midlands.

I have been a entrepreneur and am passionate about public awareness of science issues.
