Edel Hyland

(She/Her)
Senior Lecturer in Biochemistry & Fungal Biology, Queen's University Belfast

I am a fungal biologist really curious about how evolutions works. I am originally from Dublin, Ireland and have studied at Trinity College Dublin, Johns Hopkins University and Harvard University. I currently teach and undertake research at Queen's University in Belfast and am becoming more and more fasciated by fungi the more I learn about them.
Currently my research focues on how the physical structure of DNA inside fungal cells dictates their characteristics, especially those fungi that cause disease in humans, but my interest in fungi, spans a lot further.
