Elissa H. Patterson

I am a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan. I earned a Ph.D. in biopsychology from the University of Chicago and a Certificate of Re-specialization in Clinical Psychology from William James College in Massachusetts. I completed post-doctoral training in Behavioral Medicine at the Boston University School of Medicine. I am a member of the Consultation Liaison Psychiatry service at University Hospital in Ann Arbor where I specialize in educating healthcare trainees and treating medical/surgical patients who experience psychological factors impeding their medical progress. I am a co-founder of the Michigan Medicine Multi-disciplinary PNES clinic housed in the department of Neurology. I was elected president of the Michigan Psychological Association and served on the executive board for 3 years from 2018-2021. Prior to pursuing psychology, I worked as a research associate in a sleep neurophysiology lab at Boston Medical Center.
