Dr Elizabeth Macpherson is a law lecturer at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, specialising in comparative natural resources law and indigenous rights. She has Law (honours) and Commerce degrees from Victoria University of Wellington and completed her PhD on indigenous water rights in comparative contexts at the University of Melbourne. She has extensive experience advising governments, private sector and communities on natural resources, environmental and indigenous policy and regulation in Australia, New Zealand and South America, including as claimant counsel before New Zealand’s Waitangi Tribunal and a principal legal advisor and senior policy executive in Aboriginal Affairs for the Victorian State Government.
