Christabelle Thwaites

PhD Candidate in the School of Philosophy, Religion and History of Science, University of Leeds

Christabelle Thwaites joined the University of Leeds in October 2020 as a PhD student, funded by the AHRC through a White Rose College of the Arts and Humanities (WRoCAH) studentship. Prior to this, she completed her Bachelors and Masters degrees at the University of Exeter.

Her PhD research explores women's experiences of Christian purity culture in Britain. She takes an interdisciplinary approach to research, and is interested in a broad array of subjects across the arts, humanities and social sciences, including: religious subculture(s), social inequality, cultural dissemination, mental health, education, society and culture.
