Dr Emily Brayshaw is a PhD from UTS, Australia in the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Building. Her thesis topic is the influence of indigenous feathered ceremonial wear, ethnographic exhibitions, and the “primitivist” art movement on the design of showgirl costumes on the Broadway stage, 1890 ‐ 1930.
Emily comes to academia from a background in financial crime consulting with the forensic division of a big four global accountancy firm. She has also maintained a career as a journalist and editor in Australia, Europe and the US for 18 years. Emily’s wide interests include: the display and consumption of luxury in fashion, costume, theatre and film; German literature; and the viola.
