Lecturer in Sociology of Sport, Durham University

Emma works in the School of Applied Social Sciences at Durham University, which she joined in 1999. Her doctoral research at Loughborough University involved an analysis of the construction and representation of national identities in the media coverage of the 1996 European Football Championships. This research interest has continued and developed to include analysis of the media representations of football fan culture and football-related disorder.
