Lecturer and Researcher in Politics, Université Saint-Louis - Bruxelles

Emmanuel Klimis completed a PhD in Political and Social Sciences from Université Saint-
Louis - Bruxelles, where he teaches international relations. He has been working on
development assistance to fragile and post-conflict countries for the last 15 years, both
from an academic perspective and in decision-making support for international (UN,
EU) and national (Belgium federal government) authorities. A former NGO
administrator and development projects evaluator, he also teaches international
development and international relations in Université de Liège, Haute-Ecole Bruxelles-
Brabant, UCLouvain and the DR Congo School of National Administration. His latest
research projects focused on the nexus between peace, security and development;
aid effectiveness and the building-up of a comprehensive approach to development;
the inclusion of a human-rights based approach to development. Together with colleagues from Burkina Faso, he is setting up a training programme on Journalism, Communication and Conflict in the Sahel Region.
