Erik did his PhD at the National Museum of Natural History in Paris (between 2007 and 2010) where he investigated curiosity and social learning mechanisms in Great apes.

Before joining the Department of Psychology at the University of Portsmouth, he worked at the University of Jean-Monnet (Saint-Etienne, France) and at the University of Quebec at Trois-Rivieres (Canada). During that period, he was involved in several studies investigating the development of communication and social cognition.

Current areas of interest involves the factors influencing curiosity, learning and problem-solving skills in childhood and adulthood.
