Eugene Lang is Assistant Professor (Continuing Adjunct), School of Policy Studies, Queen's University, where he teaches in the Master of Public Administration (MPA) and Professional (mid-career) MPA programs.

A Senior Fellow at the Bill Graham Centre for Contemporary International History, Trinity College, University of Toronto and Fellow, Canadian Global Affairs Institute, previously Lang was BMO Visiting Fellow, Glendon School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA), Glendon College, York University (2012-15). In 2014-15 he served as Interim Co-Director of the GSPIA. Lang was also Visiting Fellow, Munk School of International Studies, University of Toronto, 2006-07.

Lang worked for many years in the Canadian government in both the public service and in Minister's offices, notably as Chief of Staff to two Ministers of National Defence in the early 2000s.

His book (co-authored with Janice Stein), The Unexpected War: Canada in Kandahar (Penguin, 2007), a national best-seller, won the Writer's Trust Shaughnessy Cohen Award for Political Writing (2008), was short-listed for the Donner Prize for the best book on Canadian public policy (2008), was named one of the top 100 books of the year by the Globe and Mail (2007), and was the basis for a Global Television documentary.

Lang has authored more than 200 op eds, journal articles and book chapters on national defence and national security, foreign policy, political economy and public administration. He is a regular commentator in print and broadcast media and since 2008 has been listed in Canadian Who's Who.

Lang was educated at the University of Western Ontario (B.A., M.A., political science), Queen's University (M.P.A.)., and the London School of Economics (M.Sc., International Political Economy(, where he studied as a Chevening Scholar.
