Fiona Armstrong

Fiona works in communications, policy, research and advocacy. She has a background as a health professional, journalist, in public policy analysis and advocacy. Her main interests are in health and climate and energy policy and climate communications. Fiona is Adjunct Professor, School of Planetary Health, Monash University; Founder and former Executive Director of the Climate and Health Alliance; and a founding director of CLIMARTE: Arts for a Safe Climate. She is based in Melbourne.

Fiona was the architect of the framework for a National Strategy on Climate, Health and Wellbeing for Australia; author of: 'Coal and Health in the Hunter: Lessons from One Valley for the World', published by the Climate and Health Alliance; lead author of 'Health and Energy Choices', published by a collaboration of health sector groups; author of 'Our Uncashed Dividend: The Health Benefits of Climate Action', published by the Climate and Health Alliance and The Climate Institute; author of 'Shifting from Fear to Hope', published in the Centre for Policy Development book, More than Luck: Ideas Australia Needs Now; and co-author of the 2009 policy paper 'Putting Health in Local Hands' published by the Centre for Policy Development which conceived and described a new governance and financing framework for the Australian health system.
