Fiona Hill

Fiona Hill (PhD Anthropology) specialises in the heritage and contemporary communities of the Arab region.

Fiona's business, Almanar Consultancy, guides clients' engagement with the region through briefing and workshops, cultural consultancy, and trade and cultural visits to Arab countries. She has led women-only visits to Syria, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Oman, and Morocco.

Fiona was a founding member and served on the Executive of the Australian Arabic Council (AAC) for a decade, and a founding member of the Council for Australian-Arab Relations (CAAR) 2002 – 2008.

An active Member of Australia Arab Chamber of Commerce & Industry (AACCI), Fiona Chaired ‘Women in Business’ at the AACCI’s inaugural Arab Trade Forum & Expo 5 - 6 May 2011 in Melbourne.

Fiona is Honorary Associate in the School of History, Heritage & Society at Deakin University, and Co-Investigator of the ‘Australia-Syria Archaeological & Historical Research Collaboration Project’ establishing a conservation and interpretation centre for cultural artefacts found in Wadi Tishreen, Syria.
