Fiona McNeill

I am an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Heriot-Watt University. My research focusses on data interpretation and matching, and facilitating communication and decision making during crisis management. I co-chair the Semantic Web Lab (SWeL) at Heriot-Watt and am a board member for the Information Systems for Crisis Response and Management (ISCRAM) community. I am a fellow of the British Computer Society (BCS).

I am heavily involved in women in STEM and CS. I was on the RSE/YAS Tapping all our Talents board and co-chaired the Tapping all our Talents group in the Young Academy of Scotland (YAS). I chair the women@CS group at Heriot-Watt and am involved in several projects in this area. I am also involved in computing in schools. I chaired the Computing in Schools group in YAS, do a lot of outreach work and represent the BCS on the RSE-led Learned Societies group look at STEM education in Scotland.
