Dr. Francis Okpaleke holds a PhD in International Relations and Security Studies from the University of Waikato, New Zealand, an MSc in Terrorism and Security Studies from the University of Salford, United Kingdom, and a BSc with Distinction in Political
Science from the University of Nigeria. He is currently a Senior Policy Analyst with the Government in Canada and a Research Fellow. In the last decade, Dr Francis has had the incredible opportunity to work on four different continents across the years (Europe, Africa, North
America, and the Pacific) working as Manager of Policy and Research, Senior Research Fellow, Senior Policy and Research Analyst, and as an External Engagement Manager.
His research interests focus on the intersection of emerging disruptive technologies, drones, counterterrorism, international relations, critical security studies, and African security. Dr. Francis has published in several peer-reviewed impact factor journals including African Security Review, the Journal of Strategic Security, Sustainability, Energy Research &; Social Science, and Environmental Policy & Governance. He has also contributed to several book chapters and authored several articles in peer-reviewed impact factor journals. He is the
author of Drones and US Grand Strategy in the Contemporary World (Springer, 2023)
