Frederick H. (Harry) Pitts is an ESRC-funded PhD researcher in the Department of Social and Policy Sciences, University of Bath. His research explores the struggle to measure, quantify and value creative labour in graphic design and advertising. His approach is informed by a critical engagement with Marx’s value theory via Open Marxism, the Neue Marx-Lektüre and post-operaismo. His interests open out upon the future of production and consumption in capitalist and postcapitalist society, alternatives in work and social reproduction, the politics of work, and labour movements and trade union organisation. He is a member of the Basic Income Working Group of the Foundation for European Progressive Studies Young Academics Network and has worked with outside bodies including Unite the Union and Creative England.
