Prince of Wales Global Sustainability Fellow, University of Cambridge

Gabriel Okello is a Prince of Wales Global Sustainability Fellow in Air Quality and non-communicable diseases at the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership. He is a research active expert interested in applying transdisciplinary approaches centred on participatory and collaborative involvement of stakeholders in policy, businesses, academia and communities to generate evidence to inform the conceptualisation and/or co-design of strategies to address air pollution in rapidly urbanising cities in Africa and other low-and middle-income countries.

Gabriel is passionate about promoting inclusive evidence-informed policies and strategies to reduce air pollution, increase awareness about air pollution exposure, increasing capacity around the use of air pollution information in health management and policies, and improve understanding that cleaner air in all settings can benefit public health.

Gabriel has a wider ambition to explore pathways which leverage policy, community, and commercial systems to create more liveable urban spaces in Africa and other low-and middle-income countries.
