Gabriela Novotna

Associate Professor of Social Work, University of Regina

I am an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Regina and an Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Program. I am also a Researcher with the Saskatchewan Population Health and Evaluation Research Unit [SPHERU], a bi-university research unit that studies the effects of the social and structural factors that affect the well-being of communities within the province of Saskatchewan and beyond. My research interest is two-pronged. First, I have extensive experience in research related to adversity experienced by people who use psychoactive substances, experience mental health issues or homelessness. Second, I am also interested in advancing scholarship on the experiences of individuals who identify as BIPOC in postsecondary education; as well as immigrants seeking professional employment opportunities in Canada.
