Managing Director, International Centre for Island Technology, Heriot-Watt University

Gareth is the Managing Director of Aquatera, part of Heriot Watt University's International Centre for Island Technology (http://www.icit.hw.ac.uk/). He has worked as an environmental consultant for over 20 years. He trained initially as a marine biologist, completing a PhD in Deep Sea Biology. He has since completed over 350 projects covering a wide range of environmental and operational topics. Renowned for innovative thinking, unbounded enthusiasm and commitment to finding solutions. Gareth has worked in many areas of the world including Sakhalin, Caspian Sea, Mediterranean Sea, South America and many island groups.
