Garikai is a PhD candidate at University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. He holds an MSc in Geo-information Science and Earth Observation from the University of Twente, Netherlands-ITC and a Bachelors of Arts with Education Degree - Geography Major from The University of Zambia.

GIS, Remote Sensing, Volunteered Geographical Information, Urban Planning, Land Management and Governance, flood vulnerability analysis, Spatial Multi-Criteria Analysis, Systems integration, Local and Indigenous Knowledge Systems.
