Professor of Criminal Justice Policy, De Montfort University

Gavin Dingwall is Professor of Criminal Justice Policy at De Montfort University where he teaches courses in Criminal Law and Penology.

He has researched primarily in Criminal Justice, but has also written on aspects of Criminal Law, Criminology and Criminal Evidence and Procedure. The latest of his four books, written with Tim Hillier, Blamestorming, Blamemongers and Scapegoats: Allocating blame in the criminal justice process (Policy Press, 2016) was the subject of a discussion on BBC Radio 4's 'Thinking Allowed' series. Gavin was a member of the Executive Committee of the Socio-Legal Studies Association (2008-2014) and currently serves on the Howard League for Criminal Justice's Research Advisory Group.
