PhD Student in Sociology, University of Essex

I am a 3rd year PhD bursary student of the Sociology Department and Graduate Teaching Assistant for the module "Introduction to Crime, Law & Society"

Coming from a Political Science background (BA on International Relationships and Human Rights at the Univeristy of Padova and MA on Local & International Cooperation & Development at the University of Bologna - Italy) with my first research experiences I focused on EU migration policies and specifically EU external border management and undocumented migration (I conducted fieldwork researches along EU external edge in Melilla & Morocco, and Malta).
For my actual investigation, I broaden my focus introducing elements of EU fishery policies, working with artisanal fishing communities living at the peripheries of the EU, in the islands of Lampedusa and Fuerteventura.
I am a founder member of the European Sociological Association – ESA - International Maritime Sociology Group, and a member of the University Association for Comparative Studies – UACES – funded Collaborative Research Network -
CRN - on the Governance of Sustainability.
At the University of Essex, I am a Founding member and coordinator of the ‘Citizenship & Migration Group’ based in the Department of Sociology.
