My primary research approach uses a political economic perspective to understand aspects of social change. Recent efforts have involved determining the demand for ethno-cultural vegetables (ECV) in the Greater Toronto Area and the promotion of local Ontario production and consumption of these vegetables. I have also conducted considerable research on farmers' adoption of environmental best management practices. My graduate student supervisees have completed research within Canada, China, St. Lucia, Grenada, Sudan, South Sudan, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Malawi, Zambia and South Africa.
