Gordon Rixon

Gordon Rixon, S.J. completed undergraduate studies in philosophy and mathematics at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, a Master of Divinity and Licentiate in Theology at Regis College, Toronto, and doctoral studies in theology at Boston College. After working at the Jesuit Center for Social Faith and Justice in Toronto, Gordon joined the faculty of Regis College at the University of Toronto, where he teaches and publishes in the area of systematic theology, Ignatian spirituality and contemporary social theory. He is a Research Scholar at the Lonergan Research Institute and a member of the Board of Directors of St Paul University in Ottawa, Ontario. Gordon has been a Senior Resident at Massey College at the University of Toronto, a Scholar in Residence at the Institute for Ecumenical and Cultural Research at St. John’s University, Collegeville, Minnesota and a guest lecturer at the Jesuit College of Spirituality in Melbourne, Australia. He represented the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops on the Churches’ Council on Theological Education and served as Dean of Regis College from 2005-2014. Gordon participates in a collaborative project with Crivella West Inc, a knowledge firm based in Pittsburgh that explores the application of advance algorithms to the analysis of digitized texts in the humanities. He contributed to the design of the 2016-2017 exhibit “Mystical Landscapes: Masterpieces from Monet, van Goph and More,” which was presented at the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto and the Musée d’Orsay in Paris. He has also contributed to the interpretive programing of Tafelmusik baroque orchestra and chamber choir in Toronto and the "Réseau International d'Innovation et de Prospective," a multi-disciplinary initiative base in Montreal that promotes innovative economic, social, and cultural leadership. Gordon complements his academic and consulting work by preaching regularly in local parishes and offering educational seminars in the community.
