Associate Professor and Senior Fellow, Indonesian Politics, Department of Political and Social Change, Bell School of Asia-Pacific Affairs, Australian National University

I am an associate professor in Southeast Asian politics and head of the Department of Political and Social Change at the Australian National University, Canberra. My main areas of specialisation are Islamic politics, radical movements and religious tolerance in Indonesia but I also have an interest in Australia-Indonesia relations and Indonesian foreign affairs. Before entering academia, I was an Indonesia analyst at the Australian Government's Office of National Assessments. I have also worked as a consultant for DFAT, AusAID, USAID and other international development organisations.
