Professor, at IMAS and Director of the Centre for Marine Socioecology, University of Tasmania

I am a Professor of marine ecology at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS), and the Director of the Centre for Marine Socioecology (CMS) at UTAS. I have interest and expertise in exploring the impact of climate change on natural systems, and developing adaptation options for conservation, fisheries and aquaculture. I am a Lead Author for the IPCC AR6 report, a recent Australian Research Council 'Future Fellow', and an associate editor for several international journals. I focus on building interdisciplinary collaborations and have been active in UN Decade of Ocean Science programmes, actions and working groups, including co-leading Future Seas 2030 (https://futureseas2030.org/) and other major international initiatives. I have a strong passion for science communication and engagement with the public, particularly around climate change (e.g. https://curiousclimate.org.au/) and citizen science (www.redmap.org.au). I am an ecologist by training and background and remain enamored by our natural world.
