Guillermo Fernández-Abascal

Guillermo Fernández-Abascal is a Practice Fellow at the University of Sydney, and founding partner of the office GFA2. Based in Sydney, Australia, and Santander, Spain, his recent work destabilises the dichotomy between research and buildings, and includes diagrams, stories, exhibitions, films, prototypes, housing, and public buildings across the globe. His recent projects include the books Learning to Live Together: Cars, Humans, and Kerbs in Solidarity; Regional Bureaucracy; Better Together: 33 Documents of Contemporary Australian Architecture and Their Associated Short Stories, the Enaire Foundation building in Santander, and the masterplan for the Machine Khana in Kabul, Afghanistan. He is currently working on a House in Cantabria, the Murrin Bridge Preschool and Community Hub, the Bass Hill Mixed Use Centre, the research project the Future of Living, and the book Folk Costumes, Indo-Pacific Air.

His words and work have been published and exhibited in El Croquis, ArchDaily, ARQ, Arquitectura, Afasia, e-flux, PLAT, PLOT, Arquitectura Viva and DOMUS, the Reina Sofia Museum, Spain, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, USA, the Walker Art Centre, USA, the Venice, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Seoul Biennales, and the Lisbon Triennale.
