Icoz is a visiting researcher at the School of Law at Middlesex University, in 2021 she completed her Postgraduate Certificate in Online and Distance Education.
She is interested in European Politics, backsliding on the rule of law in the EU, Hungarian and Polish politics and Turkey-EU relations.
Formerly she taught British Politics, Introduction to Government and Politics and European Politics as a teaching assistant at the Department of European and International Studies at King's College.
She served as a Local Councillor between 2006-2014 at the London Borough of Hackney and received her PhD from Royal Holloway in September 2013. She holds a Master of Research in European Politics from Birkbeck College and a BA (Hons) in Politics from Goldsmiths College.
