Gunnar Schmidtmann

Associate Professor of Optometry and Vision Science, University of Plymouth

Gunnar Schmidtmann is an Associate Professor of Optometry and Vision Science at the University of Plymouth. He is originally from Germany. He received a PhD in visual neuroscience from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2013. He subsequently worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Since 2017, he has been a faculty member of the Optometry Department at the School of Health Professions. His research mainly focuses on aspects of shape and object recognition but is also interested in the mechanisms underlying frequently described visual and vestibular discomfort after mild traumatic brain injuries.
