Guy Stephen Webster

PhD Student - Modern and Contemporary Literature, University of Cambridge

My doctorate seeks to develop the affective turn in contemporary modernist studies by examining the importance of 'fear' in modernist writing. I consequently look to contemporary examples of the Weird, the New Weird, and the Horror genre in both literature and film to identify the relationship that exists between modernism's legacies and an affected state akin to fear. Originally from Sydney, Australia, I now live and work in Naarm (Melbourne). I have written reviews for Time Out Melbourne, Australian Book Review, Australian Arts Review and Limelight Arts Journal. My newsletter, 'This is not a review...' attempts to engage with contemporary theatre reviewing with a critical lens.
