Hanna Tervanotko

Associate professor, Religious Studies, McMaster University

I am an Associate Professor of Religious Studies at McMaster University. I specialize in Jewish literature of the Second Temple, and I study them within the ancient eastern Mediterranean cultural contexts. In my first book, I analyzed the figure of Miriam in ancient Jewish literature, including the references to Miriam in the Hebrew Bible, the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Pseudepigrapha, and the writings of Philo and Josephus. My second book examines the use of divination in the Jewish texts of the Greco-Roman era.
