Senior Lecturer in Social Sciences, University of the West of Scotland

Since 2014, I have been teaching and researching at the University of the West of Scotland. Since my doctoral thesis on think tanks and policy making, I have published widely on the relationship between knowledge and policy-making. I have also branched out my research interests - for example, I have published on political parties in Germany, the role of think tanks for Germany's far right, and on the 'wellbeing discourse' in Scotland.
As co-lead of the UWS-Oxfam Partnership, I have led projects on the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and on what those on low pay expect of their work to call it 'decent work'. It is from this latter interest, that my latest research on job quality in Scotland's social care sector stems.
I am teaching modules across the social sciences, both on the undergraduate and postgraduate level, but with a focus on politics and social policy.
As co-convenor of the German Politics Specialist Group of the UK Political Studies Association, I have over the past few years sought to maintain the profile of this area in the UK.
