Heather P. Douglas

Adjunct professor, Department of Cognitive Science, Carleton University

Always learning. As a cognitive scientist and an elementary school teacher, I am interested in mathematical cognition and how children learn. My research is focused on applying both quantitative and qualitative methods to better understand individual differences in mathematical skills. Essentially, I am interested in all things math including affect, links between language and math, home numeracy and interventions for improved math learning. A key goal of mine is to bridge the gap between research and practice through meaningful knowledge mobilization.
