I was Assistant Director for Technology in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy under President Clinton and acting head of Energy and Environment under President Obama. I was also Principal Deputy Director (and Acting Assistant Secretary of the Energy Efficiency and Renewable energy program in the US Department of Energy.
