Huib is Director of the Queensland Conservatorium Research Centre. Performance training in sitar music led to an interest in global music education and action-research projects in Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia.

He established and led the first World Music School in Amsterdam (1990) and later was the principal driver behind the World Music & Dance Centre in Rotterdam (2006). He has taught and lectured across the world, and published extensively on learning and teaching for over 20 years.

His expertise is in: musical ecosystems and sustainability, music education and community music, world music and cultural diversity, Indian classical music and artistic practice as research.
