Ian Metcalfe

Ian Metcalfe B.Sc. (Dunelm1971) PhD (Leeds 1976) has held academic positions at the University of Malaya, National University of Malaysia and University of New England. He specialises in micropalaeontology, tectonics and palaeogeography of Asia and the Permian-Triassic transition and mass extinction globally and Permian-Triassic timescale calibration using high-precision U-Pb zircon dating of volcanic ash layers in Asia and Australia. He has published extensively on these topics and his articles are highly cited.
