Ilyas Bhatti is currently a Douglas C. Elder Endowed Professor in the Department of Civil, Construction & Environment at Wentworth Institute of Technology, Boston. Since 2001, he has taught evening courses at Wentworth on Construction Cost, Analysis, Management, and Project Financing. In addition to his 13 years of teaching, he has over 40 years of professional experience in the private, public and academic sectors.
Professor Bhatti was appointed by Governor Williams Weld to oversee the construction of the Ted Williams Tunnel, the largest and most complex highway project ever completed in the heart of a major American city. His company, Bhatti Group, Inc., has done surveying projects and wastewater feasibility studies around the world, and he brings that international perspective to his class.
Ilyas holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering; and is a registered professional engineer in Massachusetts. Bhatti received management training at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. In 1993, he was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Engineering Technology from the Wentworth Institute of Technology where he was the commencement speaker.
