Posdoctoral researcher, Universidad de Cantabria

Itxaso is a doctor by the National Autonomous University of Mexico and a civil engineer by Cantabria University. Currently, she works as a postdoctoral researcher at Environmental Hydraulics Institute of the Universidad de Cantabria (IHCantabria).

She proposed global scenarios of natural variability and climate change and examined their role in coastal hazards using Big Data approaches. She has also worked in coastal adaption strategies using green solutions, such as dune vegetation and coral mimic infrastructure. Her research links the large-scale climate patterns with local coastal processes to face climate change. Her research in climate change has been awarded with the Miguel Urquijo Award and the First award of Best Research in Climate Change PINCC 2021.
