Associate Director, Business Transformation Initiative, International Institute for Management Development (IMD)

Ivy Buche is Associate Director, Business Transformation Initiative at IMD. She works on strategic business transformation projects with large companies.

Ivy has over 15 years of experience as a researcher and case writer. With a focus on incumbent companies, her research interests are in the areas of strategy, corporate purpose and organizational change. She has published two articles in Harvard Business Review titled "Put Purpose at the Core of Your Strategy (2019)" and "The Strategic Advantage of Incumbency (2022)". She has published over 50 business case studies on companies across diverse industries and geographies. In 2017 she received the Best Case Writer award for the Hot Topic–Big Data, Opportunities and Challenges from The Case Center, UK and the best case award in the India category at EFMD case competition in 2019. She has also won five case writing awards at the John Molson International Case Competition till 2022. Prior to joining IMD in 2014, Ivy spent 7 years as researcher at the business school under Nanyang Technological University (Singapore). Before moving to academia she worked for 4 years in the automobile industry at Tata Motors (India) in quality assurance and spare parts divisions.

She holds an MBA in Human Capital Management from the Nanyang Business School (Singapore), and a BE in Metallurgy from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur (India).
