Associate Professor of Finance, University of Calgary

Ari Pandes is an Associate Professor of Finance and currently the Associate Dean of Professional Graduate Programs at the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business. Previously, Ari served as the MBA/EMBA Director and Area Chair of Finance.

Ari teaches courses at the PhD, Executive MBA, MBA, and senior undergraduate levels, as well as to corporate executives. His research focuses primarily on issues in corporate finance, law and finance, and entrepreneurial finance. He has presented his research at top international finance conferences, various universities internationally, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and Canadian provincial securities regulators, and the Bank of Canada. Ari is also the co-author of a leading introductory finance textbook.

Ari has been awarded research grants from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), the Canadian Securities Institute Research Foundation, and the Global Risk Institute. His research into the Canadian capital markets has twice won the Bank of Canada best paper award, as well as the 2016 CFA Society Toronto and Hillsdale Canadian Investment Research Award.

Ari’s research has been cited in the press, he frequently provides financial and economic insights to various media outlets, and does finance consulting work.
