I research the relationship between hazards, disasters and mass incarceration. My my most recent publication is about extreme heat and COVID19 in Texas prisons and the challenges mitigating heat illness in prisons. My other areas of interest and expertise include prison emergency management, emergency planning for prisons, incarcerated workers in disasters, and the role of incarcerated firefighters in emergency and disaster response.
