James Dawes is an English professor Macalester College. He teaches narrative across the disciplines, from game design and creative writing to human rights and international law. He is the author of several books, including Evil Men and That the World May Know: Bearing Witness to Atrocity. He received his M. Phil. from Cambridge University, his Ph.D. in English Literature from Harvard University, and was a Junior Fellow at the Society of Fellows, Harvard University.
