Associate Professor, Stellenbosch University

I am a Associate Professor within the Institute for Plant Biotechnology, which is part of the Genetics department at Stellenbosch University. Originally form the UK I completed my PhD in 1996 and then worked in Germany and Denmark before relocating to South Africa in 2004.

Most of my research examines sugar metabolism which I try to manipulate to either make plants grow better under stress conditions, or to make them synthesize improved products for industry. I also work on cannabis, trying to improve varieties for South African growers.
