Jan Botha (MA, DTh) is professor in the Centre for Research on Evaluation, Science and Technology (CREST) and the DSI/NRF Centre for Scientometrics and Science, Education and Innovation Policy (SciSTIP) at Stellenbosch University in South Africa. Earlier in his career he was Senior Director of Institutional Research and Planning at Stellenbosch University and senior lecturer in Hellenistic Greek at North-West University. His current areas of interest include higher education policy studies, history of higher education, doctoral supervision, and issues related to research integrity and academic authorship. He is co-author and co-editor of the book "Institutional Research in South African Higher Education. Intersecting Contexts and Practices" (SunPress, 2016) and course leader of the DAAD-funded DIES/CREST Online Training Course for Doctoral Supervisors at African Universities.
