Jason Kindrachuk

Assistant Professor/Canada Research Chair in emerging viruses, University of Manitoba

Dr. Jason Kindrachuk is an Assistant Professor and Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in the Department of Medical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases at the University of Manitoba. He is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Sierra Leone located in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Dr. Kindrachuk holds Visiting Scientist appointments with the Public Health Agency of Canada and Canadian Food Inspection Agency and is a Guest Researcher at the International Center for Medical Research in Franceville, Gabon. In addition, he has served as a Scientific Advisor for the World Health Organization’s Advisory Committee on Variola Virus Research from 2012-2014 and served as a Scientific Diagnostics Lead in Liberia during the West African Ebola virus disease epidemic. He was recently elected as a Director for the Canadian Society for Virology Executive Council to promote the dissemination of Canadian virology findings to the national and international community through the society’s trainees, young investigators and scientific peers. Kindrachuk also serves as an Associate Editor with multiple scientific journals including Frontiers in Microbiology, Viruses and BMC Infectious Diseases.
