Jason Owen-Smith

Jason Owen-Smith is Professor of Sociology, Research Professor in the Institute for Social Research (ISR) Survey Research Center (SRC) and Executive Director for Research Analytics at the University of Michigan. He is co-founder and Executive Director of the Institute for Research on Innovation and Science (IRIS), a national consortium of universities that collects, curates and shares data to help understand, explain and amplify the public value of investments in academic research

Jason's research focuses on innovation in science and technology, scientific careers, regional economic development, the dynamics of large scale networks, and the social and economic impact of academic research and higher education.

Jason's book Research Universities and the Public Good: Discovery for an Uncertain Future was published by Stanford University Press.
