Jeff Daniels

Jeff Daniels is Chair of the Department of Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling and Counseling Psychology at the West Virginia University College of Education and Human Services. His research focus has been on violence prevention and mitigation. He conducted studies on averted school shootings and school captive-takings. This led to a partnership with the then-FBI Behavioral Science Unit, where they developed a collaborative project, the Global Hostage-taking Research and Analysis Project (GHosT-RAP), where they interviewed individuals convicted of kidnapping or hostage-taking. GHosT-RAP then led to a collaboration with the FBI’s Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted (LEOKA) program within the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division. With this group, they studied ambushes against law enforcement officers, analyzing inter views with surviving officers, witness officers, and the offenders who ambushed them. He earned his PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
