Professor and ARC Future Fellow, Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment, Western Sydney University

Jeff is Professor in the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment at Western Sydney University. He received a MSc from Simon Fraser University in 2003 and a PhD from the University of Guelph in 2008, then received Alexander von Humboldt and Marie Curie Research Fellowships to work at the Freie Universitaet Berlin. His research focuses on the ecological partnerships between microorganisms and plants, their effects on soil ecosystems, and their responses to changing environments.

Since moving to Western Sydney in 2011, he has taken on the roles of Leader for the Soil Biology and Genomics Theme and Theme Champion for Environmental Sustainability. Twice a year, he helps run a week-long workshop for students and staff on 'Data Analysis and Visualisation using R'. He is also Editor-In-Chief for 'Pedobiologia – Journal of Soil Ecology' and Opinions Editor for 'Plant and Soil'.
