Jennifer L. Erkulwater is a professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Richmond, teaching courses on U.S. public policy, the American welfare state, research methods, and inequality. She is the author of two books and several articles and book chapters that examine the intersection of poverty, race, and gender in disability policy and activism, and she is currently investigating the challenges to the inclusion of people of color within the U.S. disability rights movement. Her work has been recognized by the National Academy of Social Insurance, the American Political Science Association, the U.S. Social Security Administration, and the Brookings Institution.
