Senior Research Fellow, Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN), Deakin University

Dr Jenny Veitch is a National Health and Medical Research Council Early Career Research Fellow in the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN) at Deakin University. Dr Veitch is an active researcher in understanding how aspects of the neighbourhood built environment may influence physical activity and sedentary behaviour in populations.

She has a particular research focus on how features and design of places such as public open spaces may promote opportunities for physical activity. Her recent research has involved conducting natural experiments to examine the impact of park renewal on park usage and park based physical activity. She has experience conducting observational studies, park audits, and qualitative studies with children and families who have demonstrated “resilience” to unhealthy behaviours.
